Wards Schedules:
VA
- 3 teams (1 upper level, 2-3 interns, medical students, pharmacy students, VA Hospitalist / Chief Resident attending)
- Cap of 16, usual census 12-16
- 5 admissions per 24 hour period
- Night team can distribute up to 2 patients to each team overnight, counts into the 24 hour 5 patient limit
- On weekends/holidays, 1/3 teams will be “off call” and not take admissions, and can go home at noon
Scott & White
- 4 teams with different structures
- A&B Teams with 1 upper level, 2-3 interns, medical students, PD / APD / Chief Resident or CDM attendings
- C Team with 1 upper level and 1 hospitalist attending
- D Team with 1 upper level, 2-3 interns, medical students, and hospitalist attendings
- Cap on A, B, & D teams are 14, Cap on C team is 10
- A, B, & C Team have all patients assigned to 7 North
- Admissions assigned to teams on rolling basis to keep teams at cap
- D Team patients spread throughout the hospital, but still has rolling admissions
- Admissions to 7 North from 5pm – 12am are done by the night float team (PGY-3 and intern)
- Admissions to 7 North from 12am – 7am and to D team overnight are done by the hospitalists
